Paul Long
-
strives to combine fine
art craftsmanship with function and affordability. By design, the
outer shape of each piece is created through the artist's original
technique of glass carving. This is accomplished by high-pressure
sandblasting. Some pieces are carved again in a free-hand style
for additional surface texture. Reverse painting is done by hand
on the back of each piece. A variety of acrylics and lacquers are
used to produce depth and richness of color Three coats of high
density paint and two of lacquer paint are then applied to protect the
original painting. Table clocks are then custom fitted into a
routed base that has been painted with up to five coats of lacquer and
then sealed. Each clock is indeed an example of art with function
to be enjoyed for years to come. |
